Jonathan Shalit OBE (Hon Prof) Birthday Message for April 17thAs I celebrate my birthday, I am reflecting on how life has so dramatically changed overnight. Only four weeks ago I had been planning to celebrate our recent successes with a party at the Beverley Hills Hotel in LA. Instead I will have a take-out at home with my wife and youngest daughter with The Shalit parents Zooming in! Yet I do not feel woeful, realising that I am very much one of the fortunate ones and that for so many the deprivations and loss are so much worse. My family, friends and colleagues are all healthy. Those I know who have had the virus have all recovered. I am lucky to have wonderful people in my life. We are all reflecting and, in doing so, can find so much to admire in the fantastic efforts being made by so many. My hero of the year is 99 year old Captain Tom Moore who, as of now, has raised well over £20 million for the NHS. I don't even know this great man - but here is his link - Like all of us, I am doing as much as I possibly can to help out those in need of friendship, neighbourliness and help to get through this terrible time. I am constantly inspired by the indomitable spirit of those, like my next door neighbour, Martha. She turned 100 two weeks ago and walks 2 kilometres a day - always smiling and never complaining. Looking to the future I am focusing on these words::
I wish you, your family and loved ones strength and good health in these worrying times. Stay safe. Warmest wishes,
Jonathan Shalit OBE (Hon Prof)
